Do your stang
Hmmm, check out this new job service called doostang.com — supposedly, its the “networked” version of a job listing site.
I guess you can only view the job listings posted by your friends and friends-of-friends. Sort of interesting, but how often do people have jobs to post?
I guess the network concept can be pretty powerful though. It seems to me that personal word-of-mouth connections will still be stronger in job referrals than an online network, but then again, who knows?
Check it out!
Oh if you’re interested in trying out doostang.com, let me know and I will send you an invite. Just add a comment below.
Edited: If you are interested in an invite, please email Mareza. His email is below.

Dear Superjellyfish,
Thank you for blogging us! I’m a founder of Doostang, and would love to invite your readers to try out our free service. Please have them email me at mareza@doostang.com and I can invite them to your Doostang network.
How do we differ from the many job boards that are currently out there? Well by integrating job-postings with professional networks, Doostang successfully optimizes the recruiting process for both the employer and employee. In short, Doostang is the best place to find or fill a job.
As such, we can attract the best jobs for our users. Recent companies to recruit on Doostang include McKinsey & Company, MTV, Highland Capital, Warburg Pincus, NYC Department of Education, Skype, HBK Investments, Google and Endeavor.
Looking forward to hearing from you and your readers.
Best,
Mareza

Doostang is really a great resource for networking!
However, a few issues bother me about it!
For instance:
You can’t invite a lot of people in one go. How much is a lot? I don’t know! The service doesn’t specify how much a lot is! At first I invited 12 of my friends, then I got booted for inviting too many people (according to a message sent to me, by the Honourable Mr. Mareza Larizadeh).
After promising him that I wouldn’t invite too many people, I got reinstated. Then the next day, I invited 4-6 people, in one go. It doesn’t take a genius to know that; I got booted for that as well!
My message to the honourable Mareza and business partner:
Give us, in writing the rules for your online community. Don’t tell us vague statements like “you have invited too many people in one go”. How much is too many? Different people have different answers for how much “too many” is. So tell us how much too many is, on the service when we Join.
I think the problem is that you didn’t anticipate, the fast growth of your site. Your server has failed to deal with the growth of your site! So my friend, upgrade your server and don’t blame us for YOUR shortcomings!
It takes a few disgruntled people to destroy the “GOOD NAME” of your service. Deal with your server and you won’t have anymore disgruntled people.

Craig what are you talking about??!?! You are nuts….
I emailed Mareza after reading this blog a month ago and asked for an invite. He was awesome – responded within an hour. I joined and within two weeks I had a great new job at a large, well known NYC hedge fund. I’ve gone ahead and used the import tool on the website to import and invite my Outlook contacts – all in all 1,100 people. I didn’t have any problems. The server was great. None of my friends have had any problems either.
I’ve been at the fund for about two weeks now and love it – best job of my life!
Thanks Doostang and Craig, just shut-up and stop lying……
